RSTC

Saturdays: 12:00pm - 18:00pm

WARM UP
Each session begins with a 30 minute physical warm up to prepare our body and mind for the days work, the warm up is a combination of stretches, yoga and tai chi, aimed at strengthening and relaxing the muscles.

ACTING

Starting with theatre games, our acting session is used to explore character, improvisation, this session alows the actor to think on his feet and enjoy the freedom of exploring space and narrative.

When in production this time is used for group improvisation exploring the world of our play and its characters.

CREATIVE  MOVEMENT

The actors body and how one uses it to express character and emotion is extremely important, what do my hands say if i hold them in a particular way? or how do i hold my body when playing a king or servant?

This session explores the physical creativity of the actor and how to apply it to acting, this time is also used for dance, tablaux and crowd work, when the play we are working on requires it.

VOCAL STRETCH

A set series of vocal exericises are practised, aiming to give the actor precision with speech and to strengthen the breathing apparatus, helping the actor build in vocal range and confidence.

When in production this time is also used for singing and accent work.

REHEARSAL
We always have a production in rehearsal, this time is used to apply all we have learnt in our workshop sessions to scripted pieces, to be performed in front of a live theatre audience. Rehearsal is always ongoing and the exercises and workshops are designed to flow into one another so the transition from workshop to rehearsal is seamless.

The workshop fee for the six hour day is £25

This will be taken during registration at the beginning of each Saturday workshop
